i went all the way to rishikesh and all i got was an orange t-shirt

i went to rishikesh thinking i would follow in the footsteps of the beatles, but instead i ended up following in the footsteps of thousands upon thousands of orange-clad young indian men. they were all there as part of a religious festival where they carry water from the holy river to temples all over the country. and when i say carry, i mean walk. got to love that about india – you never know when your plans might change over a religious festival.

ganga express

i don’t even know how to begin to describe last week-end’s trip to varanasi. from the crowded overwhelming alleys, to the quiet roof top restaurant overlooking ganga at the lovely sita guest house, from the colourful holy men to the colourless holy river, from the relaxing boat ride to the congested trains, it was a trip for all the sense. i am left with good memories, some rather strage memories, and even more pictures…

park life

my first week of work is over – well, it was more like two and a half  days than a week, but i can happily retire for the week end! i can already see i’ll be very bussy the next six months, and i’m excited. as the rain finally (or should i say hopefully) seems to be on its way, i’ve been exploring the parks and nightlife of delhi, but today, the wildlife came to me…
